Riley had been waiting longer than usual to find his Perfect Match. He came into our rescue with not only a broken leg, but also a crushed spirit. With love and time, both his leg and his soul were healed.
When Riley was ready to move on to the next chapter in his life, we knew that his forever family would need to be extraordinary. They would need to be patient and kind. Their home would need to be in a quiet neighborhood and have a fenced yard in which Riley could safely run and play. They would need to be as special as he is. Riley deserved nothing less. And so, the search began.
One day in mid-November, Riley's foster mom received a phone call from a wonderful couple in New Jersey. They talked for almost an hour, discussing all the details about Riley's past, and plans for Riley's future. A week ago today, Riley went to visit with Jennifer and Paul, and he ended up staying! During this past week, Riley's new family have been getting to know him and have been helping him settle in. He has a large, fenced backyard and a serene neighborhood where he gets two walks a day. His dad is retired and his mom works from home, so Riley gets loads of quality time with them. He especially enjoys being in the library with his mom while she practices playing her cello. Riley has made all sorts of doggie friends as well! The cold winter weather is upon us here in the Northeast, so Riley's mom bought him a thick fleece jacket to keep him warm on his walks, and also a comfy deep-dish bed to sleep in at night. What a life for this special boy! From a rundown trailer in Tipton Co, TN where he mattered to no one - to being completely adored by his new mom & dad. We couldn't be happier for him!
Here is yesterday's update from Riley's new family, "Riley is a keeper. We like him a lot and are finding him to be every bit as good a match for us as we had hoped he would be. Thank you so much for how well you cared for Riley during his stay with you, and for everything you did to introduce him to us and facilitate his transition to our household. We are deeply grateful for your candor, care and counsel. We look forward to updating you as Riley continues to settle in with us."
Thank you, to Jennifer & Paul for giving Riley the opportunity to show you how wonderful he is. Thank you, to Veronica & Todd for fostering him these many months, teaching him how to be a dog and healing his soul. Thank you to Lorie, his TN foster mom - without you we could not have rescued Riley. And Thank you, to Jill and Lesley for seeing how special Riley is and for being his advocate.
