Emma's Story

If you can help Emma, please contact April Davis at 901-605-9060.

Emma Carol was found abandoned in north Mississippi. She was emaciated, parasite ridden, no bottom or top teeth, missing most of her fur and had developed mastitis due to her puppies being taken away. She is also heartworm positive, however her heartworm treatment is sponsored and will be taken care of. ! A volunteer at the City of Hernando Animal Shelter temporarily took Emma into her home to try and speed up her rehabilitation process.

Emma gets a little better each day. Her mastitis has resolved, her fur has started to grow back now that she doesn’t have fleas to irritate her allergy, she’s gained nearly 10 pounds and now runs and plays like a dog should. Now that Emma is feeling so much better she is repeatedly going after the volunteer’s cats and foster kittens. She is now facing return to the shelter unless a foster or permanent home can be found.

Emma gets along with other dogs, is housebroken, kennel trained and walks well on a leash and just needs someone to give her a chance! Please consider fostering or offering Emma a permanent home (heartworm treatment IS covered). She REALLY deserves this chance after all she has been through!
